What our members have to say...

|
"It was a great experience and had some serious investors interested with our products and services/business plans and financials which hopefully will turn into fruitful business partnerships. Thanks to Tania for coordinating and encouraging us to get in time before the half of the year starts." |

Massachusetts cleantech venture capital rises in Q1
|

|
The Massachusetts cleantech industry raised $119 million in venture capital during the first quarter, up 44 percent from the fourth quarter and the largest amount since the second quarter of 2010, the San Francisco-based Cleantech Group reported Tuesday.
Leading the way for Massachusetts was Waltham-based Harvest Power Inc., a producer of energy and fertilizer from organic waste, which received $51.7 million in a Series B round in March.
Massachusetts cleantech VC for the first quarter was up from $82.8 million in the fourth quarter, and approached the state’s best quarter of 2010 — the second quarter, when the state cleantech sector raised $124 million.
In the first quarter, the Bay State maintained its place as the second most active U.S. state for cleantech VC behind California, which raised $1.5 billion. However, the Canadian province of Ontario outraised Massachusetts in cleantech VC, with $144 million raised during the quarter, according to the Cleantech Group.
Overall, North America cleantech companies raised $2.19 billion in the first quarter, more than double the amount raised in the fourth quarter. And globally, cleantech VC was up 52 percent from the previous quarter, at $2.57 billion.
Top sectors for global cleantech investment in the first quarter were solar, transportation, materials and biofuels, according to the Cleantech Group.
